HEKA HOLISTIC NUTRITION
By Laurence Leblond, Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN)
I am a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and I offer nutritional consultation in person or via Skype. I have a strong passion for whole and nutrient rich foods. I believe in identifying the root cause of physical discomfort and I aim to bring balance into your life by making diet, lifestyle and supplements recommendations based on where you are now and where you want to go. Having a holistic and realistic approach, my programs are personalised and are meant to empower, educate and allow you to discover food as a way of making you shine from the inside out.
My mission is to make you think about food and health differently. Healthy eating is not just about making the right food choices, it's about having the right attitude towards food and letting go of the emotional attachment we experience around food. Being a strong believer that our eating behaviours are influenced by the emotional connection we have with food, together we will explore your behaviours, in order to make healthy eating easier for you. I will support you at every step of the process and will give you all necessary tools to help you achieve your goals. Looking forward to working with you!
Yes, it is possible to have grain-free delicious pancakes! The almond butter syrup is the perfect addition to these banana flavoured protein packed pancakes. Start your day right!
Bone broth is something I make on a regular basis. Very popular amongst the Paleo community, its therapeutic and healing properties have been proven more than once. Very rich in minerals and in precious amino acids, it helps protect and heal the gut, it reduces inflammation and may help with joint pain and with the immune system. The gelatine and collagen content is also very good for the skin, making it glow from the inside out. It's also the perfect afternoon snack as the protein and fat content will make you feel full and satisfied.
There's something so comforting about making and eating soup at home! I hope you enjoy this version of a mushroom soup, made with a very simple shiitake broth. I use Kombu seaweed in the broth, as seaweed vegetables is a great source of iodine and vitamin C, as well as having anti-cancer and antioxidant benefits.
Feeling a little Christmas-y? Enjoy this dairy-free and egg-free version of an egg nog tea. I used black tea, but I'm sure chai tea would also work great!

Another Buddha Bowl that was created for the UBC Sander School of Business Health and Wellness workshop! This one is high in protein due to the quinoa, tofu and edamame beans. The miso dressing is sweet and salty and compliments very nicely this asian inspired recipe!
I was a sponsor and a guest speaker at the UBC Sauder Business School Health workshop and for the occasion, I created 3 Buddha Bowl recipes. This one is guaranteed to make you feel full and satisfied. It contains all macro nutrients as well as healthy fats and precious vitamins to make you energized and revitalized!
Don't throw out the precious flesh from your pumpkins during this Halloween season! You can easily turn it into a pumpkin puree, which can be used in this recipe to make the healthiest version of a pumpkin pie you can have! Did you know that pumpkins are part of the squash family and are very rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. They will also help boost your immune system as they are high in Vitamin C and are a perfect post work-out food due to their high potassium content.
Spread this delicious vegetarian pâté on crackers, serve with fresh veggies or use in a sandwich. It is so tasty and has the perfect texture! It contains nutritional yeast and ground flax seeds to boost the nutritional content.
Don't throw out those precious seeds when carving your pumpkin for Halloween! Pumpkin seeds are a nutrient packed food and are high in minerals, especially in zinc, which helps with hormone balance, carbohydrate metabolism and helps improve immune health!
